Fair Winners!

Check out all my winnings from my county fair!!! I won 3 blue ribbons and 6 red ribbons!! My very first handspun won a red ribbon - my spinning teacher was so proud :) A couple of my entries that I thought for sure would win did not win at all - I am a little disappointed, but when I look at all that did win, I feel fortunate! Oh and getting $30 of premium money is not bad at all for just entering some of my craft items!

Tuesday Markets

Tuesday night markets are almost as fun as Saturday markets! I love all of the same things, except there's usually more people and there are more food options and live music!




Check it out, we got Smoo-teas again (pina colada) and I got another Libra lid!!!! And it's not just a Libra roll, there are other zodiacs on it!

Lavender festival

This weekend was the Oregon Lavender Festival. We spent the day going to two lavender farms, drinking lavender lemonade, eating lavender shortbread and lavender sorbet, picking lavender bouquets and listening to the beautiful sound of the bees buzzing through the fields.

One farm we went to was a Lavender AND Alpaca farm!! Double score! In the gift shop two guys were demonstrating fiber arts - weaving and spinning. Of course, I gravitated towards the spinner. He let me try out his Lendrum wheel and we talked spinning. When I left he handed me a bag with an ounce of alpaca fiber!!! I thought that was super sweet of him.

I was jealous of owen's vote for pedro shirt so i made myself this shirt full of awesome!

It's a basic cotton shirt and I used iron on flocked lettering.

Saturday Market

Saturday's are my favorite day because our town does a Saturday market. I love the fresh fruit and vegetables, kettle corn and other food vendors.

Today we tried a "Smoo-tea" It's a bubble tea smoothie. Very tastey! We had the strawberry pina colada with the black bubbles. Instead of plastic lids, they put the cup in a machine that heat seals at thin sheet of plastic, so it's like a lid, but there's less waste. They happen to have cute pictures on them! I was very delighted when my cup came out and it had a Libra cartoon on it!! That's my sign! Very cool!

first handspun

Check it out, it's my first handspun yarn! It's shetland wool with a little bit of Angelina for a bit of sparkle! I am affectionately calling this my Red Hat Society yarn, since it is purple an red. My handsome cat Frank is doing a great job modeling this yarn for me!
