Sewing

I dusted off my sewing machine today and finished 2 projects! It was a great way to beat the heat and to make some baby stuff that wasn't knitted.

I have been having issues with my knitting projects and they are in the naughty corner right now. The baby booties I was making to match the February baby sweater weren't working, not sure if it's me, or the pattern or both, but they were not making sense and I wasn't getting the same number of stitches as the pattern. The summer cotton onesie is doomed, because the cotton I bought is not thick enough to get a good gauge. I may try to make a baby kimono out of it, but I first have to swatch.

This is a full body baby bib! I bought all of the supplies for this back in January, but never got around to sewing it. I thought this was a very easy pattern to follow and sew! Perfect for someone like me who doesn't sew very often!

A more advanced beginner project - baby sling! I think it may be a little big, but I can fix it once the baby is here and see how she fits in it. It's a lady bug cotton material and the liner is a blue fleece.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. It's cold and I seem to be too hot to notice these days.

2. I hate tomatoes.

3. My favorite health and beauty product is Vaseline Clinical Therapy lotion.

4. I like to knit while enjoying a nice long ride.

5. Well, first of all I need a pedicure bad, but my feet are in such sad shape I'm too embarrassed to go get one and second of all I want to use up the gift card so I don't have to think about it anymore.

6. Leah, Wolverine and a bunch of random people; those were the cast of characters in a recent dream and it was about Leah needing someone to put a shelf in a cabinet.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to BRU, tomorrow my plans include going to the Farmer's Market and Sunday, I want to do stuff around the house I guess!

Memorial Day!

My mom came over on Sunday to celebrate Memorial Day. We had bbq tofu dogs and deviled eggs :) We slipped in some crafting time(painting onesies) and a practice walk with the stroller!

8 month photos

This weekend we found some time to do a little photo shoot and capture some great images of my baby bump :) I've printed out one to go in the baby's room, in her baby book and one for our living room. This was a lot of fun to do - it was just me, Owen and our tripod!!

Thankful Thursday

Grapefruit spoons - because they double as a watermelon spoon for personal sized watermelons cut in half! The perfect snack size for me :)

PF Changs - they have half priced appetizers from 3-6pm and their lettuce wraps are tastey!

Woodland woolworks - for finally sending my new Ashford flyer that I've been waiting for since March 12th.

Costco photo dept - their online site is easy to navigate and order prints in the sizes *I* want for each picture, unlike Fred Meyers who assumes I want the same size for each picture I uploaded.

My doctor - for making me feel comfortable with the whole "vag strep test" today even though it was not that comfortable.

Baby's First Bear

We went to Build-A-Bear this evening to make a bear for the baby. It was so different building a bear for someone who we don't even know yet, but fun at the same time because we hope that she loves this bear!

My original reason for wanting to make a bear is so I can take a series of photos of baby with this bear to demonstrate how much/fast she grows!!

Craftiness!

Some of the crafty things I've been up to!

Mother's day card for my mom. I saw a similar card at Target and decided it would be easy to make. It was, however I don't recommend knitting with toothpicks for anything longer than half an inch, those points are sharp!

Some stitch markers I made for my friend Patrice as a bday present.

A knit summer dress for baby. The back is open, so I think it will fit her pretty good in July, however the bottoms are pretty huge. She may not be able to wear both pieces at one time. I'm knitting up a matching hat and I'm almost done with it!

This is my most favorite and prized knitting that I"ve done so far! It is the February Lady and February Baby sweater set! I am just in love with these. They are pretty much identical, right down to the buttons, but the baby sweater has more buttons.

I cannot wait to wear mine and show off the baby in hers!! I am thinking of knitting up a matching hat and booties.

Shower

We had a family shower at the Olive Garden. About 17 people showed up, it was a lot of fun! The cake was very tastey, even if I only got a few bites, it was so worth it! I think it was white cake with strawberry buttercream, yum!

Us with my mom.

Owen's favorite present - the butt paste LOL

4. A lot can get done inside of four and twenty hours.

5. If you've never been thrilled to get yarn, I don't know what's wrong with you.

6. To be interested in the changing seasons is to participate in life.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to cleaning, tomorrow my plans include a baby shower with friends and Sunday, I want to go on a Portland hill walk!

Thankful Thursday

The nice weather yesterday - we were able to get our veg garden planted, go for a walk, go to costco and target and we didn't get wet!! This weekend is supposed to be nice too, yippee!

Kathleen - for knitting up the cutest turtle cardigan for the baby. I love it!

My family - for coming to my baby shower last weekend. We had a nice lunch at Olive Garden, I even dared to eat a few bites of the cake! Owen & I got so many nice presents for the baby, I know she is going to be the best dressed too!

My mom - without her, I wouldn't be here! I hope she had a good Mother's day!

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Apples are to oranges as turtles are to frogs.

2. Napoleon Dynamite is the best movie ever made and that's all I have to say about that.

3. I think I hear the washing machine finishing up.

4. I must be unpatriotic, I don't own an American flag.

5. Do what you want to do, but don't poo poo my opinion.

6. My husband was standing in line to pay at the plant sale and behind him was a Radio Flyer wagon; in the wagon was a bucket filled with flowers and vegetable plants (true story).

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to updating my blog, napping, laundry and filling out Mother's day and thank you cards, tomorrow my plans include the family baby shower at Olive Garden and Sunday, I want to see my mom and do something fun with her!

Thankful Thursday

The Farmer's Market - yay, it is the time of year where we spend most Saturdays in our downtown area for the market! I love it so much, because you can get fresh produce, flowers and hand-made things for reasonable prices. Last weekend we only got the fresh donuts and a pastry, but it was fun to just walk around too!

My soap lady - oh man, I have been out of soap for almost 2 months and was not able to get my hands on any new soap until last weekend at the Faire in the Groved. I stocked up and got 3 bars! She got some new moulds and her soaps are huge, she is charging 1.00 more, however I cut mine in half and now have twice as much! Yipee, no more breaking out or weird dry patches on my skin! Next fall I am going to buy more 9 bars, because 6 didn't get me through...

Non Stress Test - the fetal moniter they hooked me up to for 40 mins told me I had a Braxton-Hicks contraction, I would never have known otherwise.

The other people in our birthing class - no one else did the practice contractions either, yay, we can all feel like dunces together!

Sharon - for the beautiful Shamrock Cardigan she made for the baby, it is so cute and tiny! I know the baby will be adorable in this! She gave it to me at knit night and it was such a surprise to get!
