Friday Fill-Ins

1. "In a hole in the ground there lived a little bunny."

2. "I am tired, but that ain't no matter."

3. "After dark the rain began to fall again, we were out in the squall and got soaked."

4. "the prisoner was released from the hold of the Spanish galleon."

5. "There was a hand in the darkness, and I swung at it with my axe."

6. "Accidents ambush the unsuspecting, and crush them."

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Borders, tomorrow my plans include hanging out with some girlfriends and Sunday, I want to get the border up in the baby's room!

Thankful Thursday

Lalibella - yummy Ethiopian food and it's just around the corner from my house. I just love their vegetarian combo when they pile the split-pea curries, collard greens and mixed vegetable dishes right on top of the injera. It is so good!!

Borders - my Twilight DVD finally came in the mail, wahoo!

Getting things done - Yesterday I got the oil changed on the car, got gas, returned a book to the library, mailed a box, spent time with a friend and watched a movie, picked up Owen from work, went to knit night, watched Lost. Then I crashed out! I don't have many days where I have that much energy!!

Lithia park in Ashland, OR - Because Owen wanted to stop there, I found a yarn shop right across the street (Web-sters) It was a very nice shop and I picked up a few fun yarns to use for making art yarn.

Urban Fauna Studio - for hosting camp pluckyfluff! I had such a fun time and I learned so many new techniques. My best accomplishment was learning to just let the fiber go through the wheel and not try to make it perfect.

Friday Fill-ins

1. Why do we have to work to make money?

2. Drinking coffees iced instead of hot are now habits.

3. I have collected two drop spindles in the last 3 weeks and before that I had never really considered drop spindling at all.

4. I had never heard the phrase "little birds in their nests agree" and it is apparently a Brittish proverb.

5. I'm going to be learning a different way of spinning yarn than the way I always do.

6. How was I to know how hard it would be to get the bunny into her carrier, it only took 15 freaking minutes.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to the drive down to San Francisco including the usual stop at Bagel Tree for lunch, tomorrow my plans include Camp pluckyfluff all day at the Urban Fauna Studio and Sunday, I want to do some sight-seeing in San Fran!

Tortoise wins over Hare!

However, tortoise did not win over the other car in the second heat, so I just got a participation medal. It was still a fun night!

Pearl's first yarn!

Yay, I finally finished up the yarn from my angora rabbit Pearl!

I carded her fiber with a Merino/Silk blend.
The content is approx 40% Angora and 60% Merino/Silk

Look at the bobbin! This is a new jumbo bobbin and I pretty much filled it up. It took me almost 4 hours to ply!

Finished yarn. I have not washed it yet, so I do not know the actual weight of the yarn, but right now it is between lace and fingering weight. It is 697 yards, 4.9 oz. I plan to leave it undyed and make something lacy for the baby that will be more of an heirloom piece rather than a functional piece.

Knitting FO's

Yes, I really do knit! Here are some projects that I've been working on.

I had some left over yarn from the Tulips Cardigan that I decided to make this beanie to match. I just love the pom-pom on top, so cute!

This is the Baby Mine sweater made with a Blue Moon rare gem. This was a very fast knit, and it was easy. I was a little intimidated by the sleeves (you knit them separately and then attach them after you've knit up the body and before you knit the yoke), but I just focused on the directions and trusted that they would work! I think the bunny buttons really make it adorable!

My current project is the Cable That Bag by Chrissy Gardiner. It doesn't look like much now, but just wait!! I am using Abstract Fiber Mighty Sock in the Blueberry colorway. It will be a shop sample when I'm done with it.

Thanks Patrice!

This is what came in the mail today, a fun goodie box filled with fun stuff!

Namaste Malibu knitting bag - It is so me, I can't stand it!!!! I'm totally taking it to San Fran with me and I will look very stylish carrying it around, I know already. I can't believe how large it is, it will totally be able to hold my current project and double as a purse!!

A cute Coach bunny key chain - it looks so much like my Pearly girly!! So dang cute, I almost don't want to use it!

A drop spindle made by Dianne's husband. Now I have two spindles in my collection. And as a serendipitous side note, my new Spin-off magazine arrived today as well and on the front cover there is a picture of drop spindles and an article inside about them!

Patrice, you are awesome!

Thankful Thursday

My friend Patrice - she sent me such a nice box today filled with fun goodies - I'll post about that next.

My friend from the UK - she and I swapped cool stuff - she sent me a Coldplay keychain and I sent her some yarn that Sharon dyed in the X&Y colorway, it was a very fun swap :)

My new spinning wheel plyer - wahoo! I was able to fit 700 yards of lace weight onto one bobbin and not break the yarn into more than one skein. Totally worth the price I paid!! Not to mention the orifice on it is big enough to be able to make cool art yarns now!

Our awesome pet sitter - it's hard to find someone to pet sit that is more reliable than our current sitter! She does a great job and is usually available on a short notice! We really appreciate her help!

!!! - how would I be able to write a sentence without the !!!?? It's the most useful punctuation!!

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. When I look to the left, I see a box of fiber, a bag of fiber, and some other junky stuff on my desk.

2. The living room is the room that has the best view in my home.

3. Let it work right the first time.

4. Taking a walk is done dirt cheap!

5. Courteous driving is a responsibility that all qualified citizens must share.

6. If you have any baby stuff feel free to donate it to me.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to working on my derby car for the boyscout derby next week, tomorrow my plans include going to a memorial service for my mom's friend's husband and Sunday, I want to go see The Importance of Being Ernest at the Portland Center Stage!

Thankful Thursday

My sharp kitchen knife - I think if the blade had been dull, the cut I gave myself would have been a lot worse. Cutting off the tip of my fingernail was the result of me not paying attention while cutting a bell pepper.

Woodland Woolworks' secret sale - I was able to get the new flyer and drive bands for my Ashford Traveler at 15% off! While I was there, I checked out the sale area and there was a brand new Jumbo Flyer head with 4 bobbins that fits my wheel at 30% off, total score!! It will help out a lot with the art yarn class next week :)

The Aloha Grange - it's the new meeting spot for my Wednesday spinning group. It is spacious and quiet - it's perfect for our little group.

Pearl's speedy recovery - she had her spay operation on Monday and while the first day was rough for all of us, she has been getting back to her usual self over the last few days. She started off only eating hay and now she is back to her pellet food, carrots and drinking water from her lixit bottle - we had put a cup in her cage so she wouldn't have to stretch to her bottle. Her incision site is clean and there is no sight of infection or oozing. Next week we have to take her in to get some staples removed, that should be interesting!

Ultrasound technology - I got to see my baby again this week and she was just moving around and being all cute!! The tech re-checked and the baby is definitely a girl :) The baby grew a lot this month too, she is up to 2 pounds!!

Babies R Us last Sunday

Wow! If I had known about this perk, I would make excuses to go to BRU!!

Owen demonstrating the stroller

Taking a break mid-way through registering. Also, trying out the glider chairs.

Yeah, I was in control of the scanning gun :)

All I can say is that I am glad that is over with. It was 2 hours of quick decisions on baby stuff and I was exhausted afterwards!

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Paying for a girl's snack at the movies when she let me cut out of line really quick was my last random act of kindness.

2. Another place and another time is when I'll get to see Coldplay in concert again, but this year it's not going to work out.

3. According to my horrorscope, I'm passionate in matters of the heart.

4. Coffee, tea or pastries is what I like at Starbucks.

5. It makes me sad when friends take separate paths.

6. Our nursery reminds me that there is a baby coming, eek!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to getting out of the house, tomorrow my plans include having lunch at Owen's grandma's house and Sunday, I want to do nothing!

Thankful Thursday

Baby knits - they are quick and fun to knit up! I've already got a hat and leg warmers made, go me!

Soup - always makes me feel better when I'm sick, especially if Owen makes it for me :)

Home - after being away for a week, it's nice to be home and sleep in my own bed!

Dark Chocolate Cadburry Mini Eggs - even better than the original!

Sunny days in winter - you can't beat that boost of vitamin D

Lace Slip Neck Wrap

This is a pattern by Kathleen, she is in my knitting group. I had to quickly knit this up as a shop sample for Abstract Fiber. I figured people would want to see the finished product of the bookmark swag we were handing out. It was a fun easy knit, and the pattern was easy to memorize. I also did not get bored with the pattern - that is a plus.

Then at the booth next to us, I found the most perfect clay button! Thanks Anzula!

OMG SQUEEEE OMG

I'm going to camp pluckyfluff!!

Friday Fill-ins (a little late)

And...here we go!

1. I'm at Stitches, I'm on yarn overload, I have bought too much.

2. Why do I have the ability to spin and not the patience to drop spindle.

3. How does this drop spindle work, anyway?

4. Every morning, I put makeup on my face.

5. I consider myself lucky because I have a wonderful husband and awesome friends.

6. One day we’ll see the glass is half full.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, tomorrow my plans include working at Stitches and Sunday, I want to meet Lexi Boeger!

Baby Booties

These are the booties from Knitwitmom (Linda)! She gave them to me at stitches. Thank you so much Patrice and Linda for coming up with this special surprise!

Emma the dog, she had a special seat harness, too cute

Lexi Boeger (pluckyfluff), she is an all around cool person!! And I only talked to her for about 15 mins.
