Happy Birthday to me!

I had the most wonderful Birthday weekend!

It started on Thursday. My mom came up after work and babysat Hazel for the evening, so Owen and I could go to dinner! We went to the Melting Pot, my most favorite restaurant. When they seated us at our table, the gave me a birthday card and there were roses from Owen already on the table. We had a lovely California salad, Wisonconsin cheese trio fondue and a flaming dark turtle dessert fondue. With dessert they brought out a little plate that had my name written in chocolate, I thought that was a nice touch. I indulged and got a cocktail, it was so yummy, it didn't taste like alcohol (the kind of drink I like), it was a "Love Martini" (Love at first sip! Malibu rum, peach schnapps, cranberry juice and fresh strawberries). After all that we still had a little time before we had to be home, so we went to Voodoo. I ordered my first voodoo doll and it had a unicorn on it! How did they know???? It was delicious for the eyes and tummy!

On Friday the 24th (my real bday) I woke up and had to get over to the chiropracter. Owen and I were in a small car accident that left the front of the car slightly damaged and my back in a little bit of pain from the impact. So after being adjusted I went to my Friday knitting group to knit and chat! Hazel and Owen showed up after an hour or so and we had lunch, then they went back home and I knitted some more! After Hazel's afternoon nap the three of us went out to dinner to La Hacienda (my favorite Mexican restaurant). We next went to the mall to buy Hazel new shoes and we went to build a bear. Hazel picked out the pink bear and I picked out the outfit. It's name is "rainbow bear", yeah, original I know :) They had a balloon guy out front and he made me a turtle :) Hazel spent some time playing in the play area while we watched from the side.

On Saturday I was up early for Oregon Flock and Fiber! That will be a separate post, with pix later (when I get more time to write), but Owen and Hazel showed up in the afternoon and we had a yummy sheep cake (not sheet cake) that Owen and I made so that I could celebrate with my knitting friends!

On Sunday was OFFF again and I had dinner at Red Robin with my friends from college! It was fun seeing them, but it went so fast, so I don't feel like we got to talk too much :( Hazel loved it because my mom was there doting on her. Outside she showed me the flower she would pick for me if I'd let her.

I am pretty tired from that long weekend and all the celebrating! I will post more pix soon :)

Turtle Bowl Pattern

This is my very first published pattern! I finished this little guy about 2 months ago, and even had it test crocheted by my friend Jen (rolyknitter on Ravelry)! I've just been so swamped with life that I am just now getting around to publishing it.

I had inspiration for this bowl from my sea turtle soap dish that lives by my sink. I wondered if I could crochet a bowl that looked like a turtle, but could also be functional. This little guy can hold flowers (if you put a waterproof dish inside to keep the yarn from getting weird), crayons, keys or just about anything. It's really simple to make too, because it's just crochet in the round.

Hazel's First Birthday

It's been almost a month since her first birthday (oops), how time flies!

Hazel's real birthday (June 21st) was celebrated along with Father's Day, in Seaside. We drove over to Canon Beach Sunday afternoon. Had lunch at a pizza parlour. I went to the bead store while Owen and Hazel went to the playground. Then we all went and got ice cream cones (Hazel snuck a few licks off of our cones). We stayed the night at the Rivertide Suites. In the morning, we packed up to leave, and went to walk around Seaside. Hazel rode the carousel, then we went to the beach where she walked in the sand and touched the freezing cold ocean! We drove home during her afternoon nap and quickly changed clothes and drove to the Spaghetti Factory in Portland. We had dinner with my mom and Owen's parents. Between salad and the main course, Hazel took a walk around the restaurant and flirted with all of the tables. When it came time to sing happy birthday, everyone in the restaurant sang to her. This made me tear up a bit, because I'm sappy like that. She enjoyed her own vanilla ice cream.

The following weekend we had her birthday party with her friends. Lots of little kids came to play in the water fountain, eat cake and help her open presents! After a full day of fun you can imagine she was exhausted!!

Ravelry Meetup

This evening was the Ravelry meetup at the forestry center. All the cool people were there!

The first 350 people got this awesome schwag bag:

Inside was a skein of Berroco Vintage, a Namaste reusable bag, Lantern Moon post-it holder, and the Odenwald sock pattern by Stephanie fan der Linden

I found some people I knew to hang out with: Sara, Carissa, Tami, Bobbie,Camille and Lisa from Australia

Carissa didn't want to drag her knitting pattern along, so she wrote it out in sharpie on her wrist. I think she has something going here and wish I had thought of it myself

Check it out I got a picture with Jess of Ravelry and BOB!

I think I was a little too excited about holding Bob!

Turtle tat!!

There was a drawing for some awesome door prizes, alas, I did not win :(

Turtley toy goodness!

Found these toys at a huge baby stuff sale at the Fairgrounds!

This is a pull toy that also has lights and plays music.

This one, you push the head down and the balls spin around on the inside, it also plays music.

Just a little rattle.

This is a wrist rattle that was a set with the other one.

I also scored a Glider Chair + Ottoman for only $57.00. I will post pics once Owen gets it out of the car!

However, tortoise did not win over the other car in the second heat, so I just got a participation medal. It was still a fun night!

Clothes Shopping

We went out shopping for maternity clothes today. The selection out there is dismal for plus-sized girls. On the verge of depressing actually. I did find 2 pairs of pants, 2 tops and a nice blouse, but they are nowhere near as cute as the clothes smaller girls can buy :(

Baby got some clothes today too!

Found this 0-3 mo. onesie at walmart, it was only $3.00, and too cute not to get!

This 12-18 mo outfit we found at the Gymboree next to the Motherhood store. Of course the window display had all these turtle outfits - how could I resist?? I figured it would be a cute summer outfit next year :)

Happy Birthday to me!

If I was a cake, this is what I would look like!

I'm a little late posting, but my 29th birthday was last Wednesday the 24th. I had a fun time at my knit night. My mom surprised me by showing up, that was a shock. I did not expect to see her. The cake was so delicious, even if it dyed my tongue green.

Thanks Susan for arranging the cake, it was a hit!!

Me and mom knitting.

One of my favorite gifts was a headlamp from Owen. This means I can knit in low light or even in the car at night! Awesome!

Wool Pets

Don't I just look enthusiastic about making my woolpet?? Well, I must say it was so much fun to stab at it!

Here's the finished product:

I should have used more wool for his top shell, because he is kind of flat.

I bought my Mother in Law the Rabbit kit, I sure hope she likes it.
