Happy Birthday to me!

If I was a cake, this is what I would look like!

I'm a little late posting, but my 29th birthday was last Wednesday the 24th. I had a fun time at my knit night. My mom surprised me by showing up, that was a shock. I did not expect to see her. The cake was so delicious, even if it dyed my tongue green.

Thanks Susan for arranging the cake, it was a hit!!

Me and mom knitting.

One of my favorite gifts was a headlamp from Owen. This means I can knit in low light or even in the car at night! Awesome!

Bunny Love

I fell into bunny love this weekend. I didn't mean to, it just happened! I met a gorgeous German Angora rabbit and I didn't want to let her go. I contacted the owner and "Pearl" is still available to purchase, so guess what? I am going to be a bunny mom!

OFFF

This is what I walked away with from the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival:

4 skeins of Blue Moon Socks that Rock
2 Blue Moon patterns
1 skein Fresh Yarn sock yarn
4oz Knitted Wit merino
2 oz angora fiber
8oz Sari Silk fiber
blue nylon fiber
1oz batt - thanks to a fellow PDX Knit blogger
a Niddy Noddy

Wool Pets

Don't I just look enthusiastic about making my woolpet?? Well, I must say it was so much fun to stab at it!

Here's the finished product:

I should have used more wool for his top shell, because he is kind of flat.

I bought my Mother in Law the Rabbit kit, I sure hope she likes it.

Extreme Knitting

I wouldn't normally consider myself an extreme knitter, however last weekend I found myself doing just that! We were in Bend, OR for a friend's birthday and we went to Lava River Cave and Paulina Peak on the Newberry Crater!

In one day, I went from:

knitting in a 40 degree F cave 1 mile underground...

...to knitting at 8,000 feet above sea level!!

If that's not extreme enough, my husband got in on the action and did extreme kite flying at 8,000 feet!!

TKGA!!!

The TKGA fall show is in Portland this year. I am a booth assistant for my friend Susan who owns Abstract Fiber . It was a great day, I was surrounded by awesome fiber and being her booth minion, I got to spin and knit too! Oh and not to mention all the great shopping! I was able to slip out a few times to do some shopping re-con for Sunday (that's when my mom is coming up for the show). So all that made this day great, but to top it off, I got to meet 3 knitting "stars"!!! Kelley Petkun (owner of knitpicks), Cat Bordhi (sock maven) and Annie Modesitt (need I say more?) How cool is that? I got an autographed copy of Annie's new book and I will be getting a signed copy of Wool Pets too! Yay!

Me, Kelley Petkun and Xena

Oh yes, Xena is just as cute in person! She licked my hand too!!!

Me and Cat Bordhi

Me and Annie Modesitt (coming soon)

I'm such a dork and had a total brain malfunction I couldn't think of things I wanted to say to them! Oh well, today made up for the time I almost met Debbie Stoller.

Starbucks!

A nice way to start the day.

Huge zuke or Small cat?

ernie zuke

I think it's safe to say that my cat is not small (he's 17 pounds), that zuke is a whopping 3 pounds!!!
